Private Investigators Indicted for Pretexting

Private eyes accused of 'pretexting' to get confidential data

Federal agents Thursday arrested three people connected with a Belfair private investigation firm who are accused of gathering confidential information on individuals through trickery from the IRS and Social Security Administration.

According to the court docuemnts A federal grand jury in Seattle indicted 10 people for an alleged scheme to obtain confidential information on 12,000 U.S. residents.

This is another black eye on our industry which is obviously on the radar with the press and various government agencies.

It is a sad news that others in our industry actually do this. WE are trusted by people, why destroy that trust?
