To Database or Not to Database?

Just Ten years ago the Internet was barely all that. AOL was sending everyone on earth a CD with 100 free hours, then just a few years later the disks came with a 1000 free hours all in hopes that they could get you to use your computer to dial a phone number and access information that AOL tried to make easy to find. All using databases of information.

Nowadays if you have dial up access you're in the dark ages. My how far we have come. The Internet has created this easy way to access all these different databases out in cyberspace.

Everything from finding former classmates, recipe's and even databases of appliance parts manuals. It's absolutely amazing what you can find online.

Even databases previously available only to universities, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies have suddenly turned up everywhere, available to anyone who can turn on a computer.

Maybe that's why everyone is calling this the Information Age.

Have we become busier, lazier, smarter, what would you call it.. Now that we don’t even have to leave our couch to find the information. I can now sit in my living room with my wireless laptop and find anything I want to know from the comfort of my home.

Want to worry about what time the library closes, I don't think so. Wait in line at the copy store to be the next one to use the computer, Not.

We quickly learned that for just a few bucks we can get a lot of information in return. If you have a lot of time, sometimes you can even find information for free, but more often than not, you get what you pay for and sometimes just paying a few bucks to access a database is just what's needed. Eliminating the human being from the process often gets the job done cheaper and keeps you in control.
